PILATES
The Pilates method is a technique that was developed by physical trainer Joseph H Pilates 1920s America
Pilates teaches you to work from the inside-out, focusing on the ‘core’ (the deep abdominal and spinal muscles), it can increase control and stability around the spine and pelvis. This is the body’s ‘power house’, a strong core results in greater economy of movement and can help reduce the risk of injury especially in the lower back. Other benefits of Pilates can be improved muscle tone, flexibility & posture.
Pilates has become very popular in recent years for a number of good reasons: it is a relaxing form of exercise which is very important in today’s hectic society, it can deliver noticeable results and is one of the few forms of exercise that can really change your body’s structure and shape. Pilates is also a popular choice for the rehabilitation of back pain and injury with many physiotherapists and other healthcare professionals taking training in, or adapting exercises from the Pilates method.
Here at ICE Fitness we offer private tuition in Pilates or you can pair up with a friend; private lessons offer a more personal approach, working to improve your particular posture type and correct your muscle imbalances, and involve both mat and equipment based exercises. We also have specialists in clinical Pilates for the treatment of low back pain and other injuries/chronic pain.
Private lessons can be delivered in our Wandsworth studio or we are happy to visit you at home or in your workplace, we cover the following South West London areas: Wandsworth, Clapham, Balham, Battersea, Earlsfield, Southfields, Wimbledon, Putney, Barnes and Fulham. Home visits may incur a small additional charge. We also provide Pilates classes.
